Artist Statement

Welcome to the Art Exhibit of Linda Mathews where the beauty of the Prairies comes to life through the eyes of this Saskatchewan born artist.

Now residing in Grimshaw, Linda invites you to embark on a visual journey through her Alberta and Saskatchewan prairie influences, where each stroke of her brush captures the essence of our captivating landscapes and serene settings. Through various mediums, she brings to life the delicate petals, the sweeping fields, and the prairie birds perched on branches.

Linda explores a variety of mediums, genres, techniques, and styles. She feels that experimenting with different media and forms keeps it fresh for the artist.

Linda had been a casual painter in oils for several years. She studied water colour techniques from Glenda Beaver, Cecilia Elizabeth, Anne Packman, and Graham Flatt. She worked in pastels with Dianna Ponting.

"Diversity of genre and styles is what keeps you relevant”
