Grade Five Reading Challenge

The third annual Grade Five Reading Challenge was hosted by the library on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Legion Hall in Grimshaw.
The challenge follows a format like that of the Jeopardy game show, and includes plenty of opportunities for audience participation, but centers around questions  from the book.

Grade five students from Holy Family School and Kennedy Elementary School all received copies of the book The Mystery of the Frozen Brains by Alberta author Marty Chan. With sponsorship from Grimshaw ATB Financial, MD of Peace #135, and the Friends of the LIbrary, we were able to bring the author himself in to take the position of quizmaster for the day, which was a huge treat for the students, as well as the rest of the audience.

This was the third year of the challenge, with Holy Family winning the first year, and Kennedy taking the prize in the second contest. It was once again a close competition, with Holy Family winning by just a handful of points. The trophy that goes between the schools has now been named the Grimshaw Golden Grail by Chan.
